Meijer Supercenter to Offer MyAllergyTest®

Foster City, CA (PRWEB) August 16, 2011

MyAllergyTest®, the latest innovation in allergy testing, will be available by October 1st in retail markets in the Midwest through a partnership between ImmuneTech, Inc. and supercenter chain Meijer, Inc.

MyAllergyTest® provides customers with the ability to conduct a personal allergy test in the privacy of their own home. Once diagnosed, consumers are better able to self manage their allergies. Until now, there have been no practical means for consumers to get properly screened and diagnosed for allergies.

ImmuneTech, Inc., an emerging life science company, developed this simplified yet effective test that also provides a personalized comprehensive plan. The test is conducted with a simple finger stick, which is then sent to the ImmuneTech lab for analysis. It is FDA cleared and clinically proven to be as accurate as blood tests performed by major laboratories or at physician’s office.

The major benefit of MyAllergyTest® is that customers also receive MyAllergyPlan™ with their results. MyAllergyPlan™ provides them with useful information on how to proactively manage their allergies and symptoms. The information in the plan helps consumers learn how to clean up their environment, avoid offending allergens and formulate a cohesive plan in conjunction with their pharmacist and/or healthcare provider. More information can be found on ImmuneTech’s blog, http://myallergysupport.wordpress.com/.

Allergies are on the rise and studies have shown how they can impact healthcare costs and individual productivity. One in four Americans now suffer from allergies, accounting for 17 million doctor appointments and 30,000 emergency room visits each year. Allergies can also contribute to other health conditions such as asthma, digestive disorders, migraines, eczema, etc.

Meijer is a leading supercenter chain with stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. With a strong emphasis on integrating healthy-living initiatives into various aspects of its store offerings, all Meijer supercenters feature full-service pharmacies and offer a variety of basic clinical services for its customers.

“Our goal is to make Meijer pharmacies a true one-stop shopping resource for our customers,“ said Nat Love, V.P. of Pharmacy for the Grand Rapids, Mich. -based retailer. “This includes ensuring we have the most advanced over-the-counter testing products. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers this convenient new way to test for allergies.”

“ImmuneTech is committed to seeing allergy testing not only become more accessible but also provide individuals with a means to control their allergies and not have their allergies control them,” said Lisa Elkins, CEO of ImmuneTech. “We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with Meijer to provide health-related solutions to the public.”

Dealing With Your Allergies-Getting a Treatment that Lasts, Not Another Decongestant

Dealing With Your Allergies-Getting a Treatment that Lasts, Not Another Decongestant

Nolensville, TN (PRWEB) September 7, 2005

Fall is coming, along with the sneezing, itching, and watering. What is causing all this misery?

In the last 20 years, the number of people in the United States who experience seasonal allergies has doubled! According to Dr. Steven Hotze, author of “Hormones, Health and Happiness” and with the Pan American Allergy Society, chemicals that have been introduced into the air over the last two decades have caused a 100% rise in the number of people affected by allergies. So what can we do about it?

The Hotze Health and Wellness Center has found an innovative treatment for allergies, which not only fights the symptoms, but builds up an immunity to the allergy! “We treat allergy by using the old adage: “Fight fire with fire.” By giving a dose of the very substances to which a person reacts when he inhales these substances, we can build up a good blocking antibody.”

What are you allergic to? Airborne allergies, such as pollens, dust or mold spores, or food? Allergy is an abnormal reaction by the immune system to normally occurring substances in the environment. Many of us are unaware that fatigue, headaches, upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal problems or skin rashes may be caused by allergies.

When evaluating for allergies, Dr. Hotze performs skin testing to determine the sensitivity of each individual to common allergens. Instead of allergy shots, he prescribe sublingual allergy drops, taken under the tongue. This treatment is innovative, convenient, safe and effective.

This allergy treatment is an immunization, which desensitizes an individual to the allergens that provoke reactions. Anti-histamines and decongestants only treat symptoms, but allergy immunization strengthens the immune system, increasing your resistance to allergies and secondary infections.

September brings a new set of allergy reactions each year. The Mold Spore Allergies are brought on as leaves start decaying and the weather starts changing in the Fall.

For more information on Dr. Hotze’s treatment, go to Amazon.com to purchase a copy of Dr. Hotze’s new book, “Hormones, Health, and Happiness.” or http://www.hotzehwc.omc

To schedule an interview with Dr. Hotze, please contact Nanette Noffsinger.

Allergy Treatments and Symptoms Website Ready to Help

Allergy Treatments and Symptoms Website Ready to Help

(PRWEB) June 27, 2010

The new website Allergy Treatments and Symptoms, located at http://allergytreatmentsandsymptoms.com/, went online last week with a wealth of helpful information about a wide variety of allergies and allergy-related conditions. In professionally written, easy-to-read articles, the site lays out the backgrounds, symptoms, and mechanisms of allergic reactions, discusses possible treatments, and provides tips for how allergy sufferers can minimize their symptoms and reduce future outbreaks. The service is provided free to all users and does not require membership or registration. It’s a purely educational service.

A central location for allergy information

Explaining their new site, the creators of Allergy Treatments and Allergy Symptoms point to the poor quality and scattered nature of existing information about allergies on the web. Spread across a multitude of varied and specialized sites, clear and accurate information about allergies has long been hard to find on the web. Allergy Treatments and Symptoms hopes to remedy this situation by putting all the information in one easily accessible place. In doing so, the creators of the site hope to educate large numbers of allergy sufferers and provide them with the tools they need in seeking professional treatment.

To provide this service, the creators have researched and compiled science-based information about all the major allergies that afflict humans. Although the information is based on solid research, the writers of the site have made the information accessible to readers with no medical background. Understanding that allergies are often conflated with related conditions, they have also included information about conditions such as asthma and non-allergic dermatitis.

Comprehensive coverage of allergies

The many allergies covered on Allergy Treatments and Symptoms include relatively common ones such as alcohol allergy, animal allergies, drug reactions, erythropoietic porphyria, insect sting allergies, and latex allergies. A few rarer types of allergy have also been included—for example, kissing allergy, water allergy, and serum sickness.

With the success of their site, the creators of Allergy Treatments and Symptoms hope to expand their offerings even further in the future by adding more detailed information about how allergies happen, how they can be prevented, and what to ask your doctor about potential treatments. Allergy sufferers are advised to keep checking the site for new and expanded coverage of all types of allergies.

FDA Approved, At-Home Allergy Test Helps Parents Early Detect, Treat and Stop Child Allergy March to Allergic Asthma

FDA Approved, At-Home Allergy Test Helps Parents Early Detect, Treat and Stop Child Allergy March to Allergic Asthma

STOP Child Allergy March

Highland Park, IL (PRWEB) October 27, 2009 -

DropYourAllergies.com, a national allergy services company specializing in enviro allergy testing and immunotherapy neutralization drops, is pleased to announce it’s F.D.A. Approved, at-home AllergyMarchTopTen.com allergy test kit. Now allergy parents can test their child for the top ten allergy disease producing allergens that signal the “Allergy March” progression of enviro allergies to possibly allergic asthma.

Far to many allergy parents know first hand the health and quality of life limitations that their allergies or allergic asthma cause them, and will do whatever is necessary to prevent their Child from the same allergy future. Regrettably, when allergy parents bring their allergy child in for physician treatment, because cold, flu and allergy symptoms are often similar, a child’s physician will typically focus only on Cold and Flu, leaving allergy as a very distant treatment consideration.

Glenn Toth M.D., FAAFP and Medical Director for DropYourAllergies.com, said: “For far too long, allergies have been considered a nuisance, rather than the lifetime Engine of multiple ‘allergy driven’ diseases that it is. The truth is, 80% of child asthma is caused by allergies with 90 % of pediatric asthmatics demonstrating allergic asthma symptoms before age 5. GA2LEN, an European Allergy Asthma Consortium has even posed the question: ‘Today’s Allergy…Tomorrow’s (Allergic) Asthma?’ Greatly, lending credence that early testing and neutralization of allergy is a cornerstone toward abating allergy progression to allergic asthma and beyond.”

Toward this goal, DropYourAllergies.com is committed to assisting allergy parents and their physicians, confront and defuse their child’s Allergy March head on. Beginning with a simple, FDA Approved, at-home allergy test, parents can order and test their child to determine if their child sufferers from any of the top ten allergy disease producing allergens that signal the emergence of Allergy March.

As with physician office-based allergy blood testing, the AllergyMarchTopTen.com kit measures specific allergen IgE antibody levels that reflect allergy sensitivity. A few drops of blood are gathered via finger prick or heel stick for infants (9 months or older), then popped into an envelope and mailed to the lab.

“Following test completion, allergy parents will know if their child is at Allergy March risk or not. Such that they and their child’s physician can make the informed decision as to whether expanded allergy testing and eventually immunotherapy is the best course of action,” said Stephen Hauer, Principal of DropYourAllergies.com. “The last thing a loving mother and father want to learn, is that their child’s suffering and eventual irreversible disease status could have been prevented by diagnostic testing and neutralization of allergy disease early on.”

Unfortunately, the only traditional, clinically proven treatment that neutralizes allergy disease, termed immunotherapy, involves frequent and inconvenient office visits and involves shots — something no one likes, especially kids, who need immunotherapy the most. So regardless of clinical efficacy, unfortunately ouch non-compliance prevails and child Allergy March continues and exacerbates unabated.

To overcome this un-friendly “ouch” method of immunotherapy, while still on task to neutralize child allergy, DropYourAllergies.com offers drug-free, custom formulated, self administered allergy oral drops that can be prescribed by your primary physician. As with shots, allergy drops neutralize the child’s test identified offending allergens providing similar relief without the frequent, painful shots or troubling side effects.

Hauer said: “As a parent of two, I can’t imagine getting Mom’s taxi and my kids to a specialist every week …especially for shots! Now get them to take our doctor’s prescribed drops at home, after brushing morning and night — that would not be an issue at all.”

In added support of the child’s allergy fight, DropYourAllergies.com offers it’s Breathe-IN-Life.com program where after an expanded DropYourAllergies.com inhalant allergy blood test via the child’s physician, they are offering six months of NaturesAllergyDrops.com for free. If at the end of six months, the child does not feel they have turned the corner and begun to feel allergy better, they can discontinue use at no charge. But if they do feel better, they can continue the protocol at the cost of less than a cup of coffee a day.

Hauer concluded: “Now pro-active allergy parents have an anti-Allergy March action plan to early detect, perform expanded allergy testing and neutralize their child’s test identified offending allergens with child friendly, NaturesAllergyDrops — and with all from the convenience and care synergy of your child’s personal physician. At the end of the day, it’s all about taking Allergy March out of your child’s future.”

New Treatment for Allergy Sufferers Offers Relief Without Shots Allergy Drops Bring Flexibility and Comfort to Long-term Treatment Plans

New Treatment for Allergy Sufferers Offers Relief Without Shots Allergy Drops Bring Flexibility and Comfort to Long-term Treatment Plans

(PRWEB) August 17, 2005

The feeling is all but disheartening. Anticipating the sting, the bruising and twenty minute wait afterwards to check for possible reactions. Dreading the moment when you will be called from the waiting room and into the doctor’s office where a waiting nurse pulls out a syringe, raises her eyebrows and smiles knowingly. It’s time for your weekly allergy shot.

This treatment is not unusual for many Americans suffering from allergies today. However, many patients are unknowingly wrong in thinking that these series of painful, ongoing allergy shots are their only option in the treatment and control of their allergy symptoms.

According to a study by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), more than 50 million Americans are afflicted with allergies including the most common case, chronic sinusitis. Affecting 16.3 percent of the US population, this allergy has long been thought to be treatable only by shots. However, after suffering for years from both allergies and the shots which provide their treatments, patients young and old are now discovering a method of relief unlike any other.

Physicians are now offering a method for providing relief from allergies without the inconveniences of shots and the hassle of making a trip to their physician’s office. An unknown treatment to many, allergy drops, also known as Sublingual Immunotherapy, are being used to treat allergies using standard serums common to allergy shots. Physicians are now able to provide their patients with a safe, painless means of allergy control from the convenience of the patient’s own home.

“This treatment really opens up new doors because it allows physicians to treat a patient’s allergies on the patient’s time schedule,” said Richard F. Herrscher, M.D. of AIRCare. “Patient costs may also be reduced because co-pays are not required for each visit, since the drops are given in a home environment.”

Allergy drops work just like allergy shots by giving the patient series of treatments to build up the body’s immune system over time. Allergy drops provide a safe alternative for a wide range of allergy suffers, as well as asthmatics.

“Sublingual drops are not new nor are they unusual,” said Herrscher who points to evidence of the drops use for many years throughout Europe. “Sublingual Immunotherapy is a long-awaited breath of fresh air in a world full of pollen and mold.

In Britain, allergy shots are virtually out of use, with Sublingual Immunotherapy replacing them as the prime treatment for allergies. Likewise, throughout Europe, studies show that a 42 percent reduction of allergy symptoms has been seen with a 43 percent reduction in use of medication while using this treatment.

Announcing Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta, Inc., A New Georgia Nonprofit that Supports Families, Educates Community about Food Allergies.

Announcing Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta, Inc., A New Georgia Nonprofit that Supports Families, Educates Community about Food Allergies.

Cumming, GA (PRWEB) September 24, 2010

Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta, Inc. strives to build a community of families afflicted with food allergies while educating the public about food allergy prevention and the risks involved. Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta is Georgia’s first formal food allergy support group. About 12 million Americans (1 in 25) have a food allergy and children are the largest group affected. There is currently no cure for food allergies.

Although Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta is relatively new, the non-profit has been a labor of love for one of its creators, Karen Harris. Mother to a young daughter with multiple severe food allergies, Harris learned quickly after diagnosis that their lives would be changed forever. In her efforts to reach out and find other food allergy afflicted families, she discovered that there was no formal support group in Atlanta.

“One of the toughest moments as a parent with a newly-diagnosed food allergic child is when you leave the doctor’s office, wondering how you will protect your child while dealing with the emotional implications of food allergies,” Harris states. “Suddenly grocery stores, restaurants, schools and churches are danger zones in which your child will be exposed to danger in the form of snacks, meals and desserts.”

Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta supports families who manage food allergies, educates those who care for children, and creates a safer environment in the local area for food allergic individuals.

The nonprofit has also created a medical advisory board, a panel of specialists within the local community. In just a short time, Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta is making an impact in the community and local schools, and has been featured on the radio and in local news stories. Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta offers local support meetings and safe events for food allergic children in the Atlanta community. Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta also supports the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) and will be a participant in this year’s 2010 Atlanta FAAN Walk. For more information, visit the Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta web site or call 404-512-7983.

Tips for parents of children with newly diagnosed food allergies:

Seek medical advice immediately should you suspect a food allergy
Find local and national support groups (online, offline) (Kids with Food Allergies, FAAN)
Educate yourself and others
Pack safe snacks when outside the home

Food Allergy is an immune system response.

It occurs when the body mistakes an ingredient in food — usually a protein — as harmful and creates a defense system (antibodies) to fight it. Food allergy symptoms develop when the antibodies are battling the “invading” food.

Symptoms of a food allergy can range from mild to severe, and the amount of food necessary to trigger a reaction varies from person to person and can even be triggered by just a trace amount of an allergy-causing food.

Symptoms of a food allergy may include:

Rash or hives
Nausea
Stomach pain
Diarrhea
Itchy skin
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Swelling of the airways to the lungs
Anaphylaxis (a severe or life-threatening allergic reaction)
