PARTI is recognized by Youth Service America as California’s MLK Day Lead Organizer

San Jose, Ca. (PRWEB) January 12, 2012

As an MLK Lead Organizer, PARTI will assist in organizing youth led events that raise awareness about violence and healthy lifestyles. On Saturday, January 21, 2012, the Positive Alternative Recreation Teambuilding Impact (PARTI) Program youth will host the 13th Annual, Martin Luther King Jr., Stop The Violence Rally at Evergreen Valley College, in San Jose California from 6-8:30pm. The event will feature a youth talent show, fashion show, health fair and address issues of youth violence in Santa Clara County.

“With their natural creativity, curiosity and passion, the young people at PARTI are uniquely positioned to better their communities through service and service-learning projects,” said Steve Culbertson, president and CEO of YSA. “As thousands of kids across the nation begin service projects on MLK Day, Dr. King’s dream of a ‘beloved community’ lives on.”

With grants and resource support from YSA, many initiatives launching on MLK Day will culminate on Global Youth Service Day, April 20 to 22, the largest service event in the world.

MLK Lead Organizer Grants were offered through YSA and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Other Lead Organizers include: Our Piece of the Pie, Connecticut; Delaware State Office of Volunteerism; Hands On Broward, Florida; YMCA of West Central Florida; Hands On Atlanta; United Way of the Central Savannah River Area, Inc., Georgia; Serve Idaho; Kentucky YMCA Youth Association; Baton Rouge Delta Development Corporation; Volunteer Louisiana; The Volunteer Center of Erie County, Ohio; Pittsburgh Cares; East Harris County Empowerment Council, Texas; Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula; Volunteer Fairfax, Virginia; and Volunteer Wisconsin.

Though many YSA-sponsored projects launch on MLK Day, opportunities and project-support grants are available throughout the year. To learn more about projects, grant opportunities and resources, visit http://www.YSA.org.
